Todd Schaan is not your average CFO.
Todd is not as straight-laced as so many finance guys out there. Todd is an avid snowboarder, yoga connoisseur and world traveller. He’s walked the streets of Amsterdam, drank wine in Vienna and hiked the Inca trail up to beautiful Machu Picchu, to name a few. He loves music and goes to concerts whenever possible – the most recent being Coldplay in Edmonton.
Although he’s an adventurous traveller, Todd is also father to a fur-baby named Finn, a gorgeous white German Shepard who keeps him busy visiting dog parks and exploring the snow with Finn for the first time in Lake Louise.
Whilst Todd is of German descent, he was born in Yorkton and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He attended the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, graduating with a Commerce degree with a double major in Accounting and General Business. When telling me about his move to Calgary he says, “Calgary was the place to go if you wanted to make something of yourself” in business.
And ‘make something of himself’, he did! Along with his degree, Todd also holds a CPA-CA (a Chartered Professional Accounting designation) and has had 20+ years of work experience with some of the most prestigious Calgary-based businesses (Cardel Homes & Kenway Mack Slusarchuk Stewart (KMSS), to name a few).
I also feel compelled to mention that Todd fancies himself a bit of a wordsmith. It is not uncommon to see Todd pause mid-sentence in order to find just the right word to perfectly curate his thought. He’s creative too, often using words like “Geizelfritzer” and “Dongle”, and being from Saskatchewan he revels in arguing the use of “un-thaw” which gets him constantly roasted in the office…
On November 15th we celebrate Todd’s 5-year anniversary with PBA. From your family here at PBA, Todd, we’d like to say Glückwünsche and Danke. Here’s to many more!
